PriceThisCraft is a free pricing calculator and a set of plain-English guides for people who sell what they make: Cricut and vinyl projects, sublimation mugs and tumblers, laser pieces and more.
Why it exists
Many crafters price by guessing, or by copying what other sellers charge. It feels sensible: if similar mugs sell for a certain price, yours probably can too. The trouble is that another seller’s price tells you nothing about your costs. You only learn later that Etsy’s fees, the shipping and your own time ate the profit, and that some of your best sellers were barely paying for themselves.
The math to avoid that is not hard, but it is fiddly. You have to count every material, put a value on your time, include fees that apply to shipping as well as the price, and then work backward from the profit you want. PriceThisCraft does that math in a couple of minutes, on your phone, while you are deciding what to list.
Our mission
Help every maker know their profit before they list.
How the calculator works
You enter what one item uses in materials, the minutes it takes you, your hourly rate, your overhead per item, what you charge for shipping and what shipping really costs, where you sell, and the margin you want. The calculator then:
- Adds up your cost per item: materials, plus your labor (minutes divided by 60, times your hourly rate), plus overhead.
- Works out the price that leaves your target margin after fees, by dividing your costs and fixed fees by what is left once the percentage fees and your margin are taken out, and then subtracting the shipping you charge.
- Rounds that price up to the next cent, and also shows a charm price ending in .99.
- Checks each price forward, showing the fees, your profit, your margin and what you earn per hour.
For Etsy, the fee values come from Etsy’s published fee schedule for US sellers: the 6.5% transaction fee and 3% plus $0.25 payment processing fee on the item price plus shipping, and the $0.20 listing fee. We check them periodically, but Etsy can change its fees at any time, so it is always worth confirming on Etsy’s fee page. For markets and other channels, you enter your own card reader or platform fees.
Nothing you type into the calculator is sent to our server. It runs entirely in your browser, and your last entries are saved only in your own browser so they are there next time.
How the site makes money
PriceThisCraft is free to use, with no account. It is paid for in two ways, and nothing else:
- The Craft Pricing Workbook, a spreadsheet version of the calculator for pricing a whole shop at once. It is a one-time purchase.
- Affiliate links. Some links to craft equipment and supplies earn us a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate disclosure explains how this works.
We do not sell your information, and there are no ads from ad networks on the site.
